Medtronic Obtains CE Mark for Their Novel Pacemaker Devices

8th January 2024

Medtronic has obtained the Conformité Européene Mark for its latest Micra AV2 and Micra VR2 pacemakers.

The Micra AV2 and Micra VR2 cardiac pacemakers boast an approximately 40% increase in battery longevity when contrasted with previous models, estimating a duration of nearly 16 and 17 years, respectively.

This progress implies that over 80% of individuals set to receive a Micra pacemaker might only require one of these devices in their lives.

The Micra cardiac pacemakers allow for at-home monitoring functionalities, enabling healthcare professionals to assess a patient’s cardiac device online, eliminating the necessity for face-to-face appointments.

Robert Kowal, a leading officer for cardiac rhythm management at Medtronic, commented, “For more than eight years, our Micra leadless pacemakers have provided meaningful benefits to people in Europe who require a pacemaker. Now, these patients have access to the latest leadless pacing technology that, for most of them, maybe the only device they will ever need.”
