Sigma-Aldrich opens new European headquarters

11th April 2011

Sigma-Aldrich has announced the opening of its new regional headquarters for Europe in St Gallen, Switzerland.

The move will unify the life sciences company's European management activities in a single location, allowing it to more effectively serve its clients in the region and helping to accelerate its international growth.

St Gallen was chosen as the location for this base due to the company's established presence in the canton, with the firm's vice-president and EMEA managing director Michael Harris hailing its good relationship with local authorities.

It is hoped that the new headquarters will help to further stimulate its operations outside the US, which accounted for an increasingly large proportion of its sales in recent years.

"Having our management team together at one site will enable stronger leadership and direction for major supply chain and sales functions, which will result in more efficient management processes and faster decision-making," Mr Harris explained.

Last month, the firm's Sigma Life Science division launched a new suite of knockout rat models for use in researching Parkinson's disease.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800495030-ADNFCR
