NHS workers to receive new pay deal
Over a million NHS workers are to receive a pay increase of 6.5% in a new deal passed in favour of 13 unions.
77% of trade unions accepted the deal which will be backdated to 1st April and will be in effect by the end of July.
Janet Davies, chief executive of the RCN commented, “This deal marks a move in the right direction but the government cannot assume that the issue has been put to bed. A bigger leap to truly fair pay still needs to be taken, but it does give a genuine pay rise to over one million people in challenging economic times. ”
