Campaign launched to highlight responsible animal health and welfare across the UK
The National Office of Animal Health has launched a campaign to outline how good animal health is an essential component of animal welfare. It will use educational materials and infographics to help pet owners, farmers, vets and the animal medicines industry understand their role in caring for animals, and to encourage responsible animal health and welfare across the UK.
They are using three simple messages of STOP disease getting into the animal, EQUIP animals to fight disease if they do encounter it and TREAT animals appropriately when sickness is unavoidable to help highlight that keeping animals healthy is a collective responsibility and that all parties need to work closely together to achieve it. These three clear messages cover every aspect of animal health, and if pet owners, farmers, vets and the animal medicines industry work together, they will reduce the risk of exposure to infectious diseases, encourage taking preventive health care measures and prescribing appropriate treatments at a time of illness, including antibiotics.
