Dr Maria Rivas appointed new SVP, Head of Global Affairs, at Merck KGaA

Merck KGaA has appointed Dr Maria Rivas as Senior Vice President, Head of Global Affairs.
Dr Rivas graduated from Brandeis University with a BSc in Biochemistry and went on to Columbia University to achieve an MD in Medicine and complete her post-doctorate clinical training. During her career Ms Rivas has been VP and Head of Global Affairs at AbbVie, VP, Global Medical Affairs, Oncology and VP, General Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging at Bayer, and SVP, Head of Medical Affairs at MSD, where she was in charge of 2,000 employees across 90 countries.
In her new role at Merck KGaA, Ms Rivas will be tasked with ensuring the smooth collaboration between research and development and product commercialisation, at a time when the pipeline has several new products to bring to market.
