Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons a top UK place for women to work
RCVS has entered the Great Place to Work survey and has secured 7th place in the medium-sized company category of Best Workplaces for Women. This particular accolade within the Great Place to Work framework is in its first year. Similar to other categories, it looked at areas of training and development and mentoring of women, but it also considered the highly publicised matter of pay equality between men and women, a comparison of women versus their male counterparts in leadership positions, and workplace policies that allow women to thrive and succeed.
Amanda Boag, president of RCVS said: “I am delighted the RCVS has been recognised for being an excellent and supportive place for women to work, and pleased the hard work of the team at Belgravia House has been publicly rewarded in this way. One of the key themes of my presidential year is diversity, and I think it is very important, as a regulator, that we reflect the veterinary profession – which is 63% female for veterinary surgeons and 98% female for veterinary nurses – as far as possible.”
