Findings from National Office of Animal Health’s 3rd Brexit barometer

NOAH’s Brexit barometers track R&D and innovation, trade and investment, animal health and welfare, bringing new products to market, public health and food production, and post-licensing controls for the overall market.
The 3rd barometer has continued to show that the threat of a no-deal Brexit is creating a lot of uncertainty and concern across the animal health industry, particularly in trade and export and public health and food production, where 32% of contributors to the latter feel very or somewhat pessimistic, a rise of 15%. Overall, there has been a significant rise in pessimism, with 43% of total barometer contributors feeling somewhat or very pessimistic about the future of the animal health industry post-Brexit. Whilst 0% of contributors felt very optimistic, Animal health and welfare recorded a more upbeat response this time round as the very or somewhat pessimistic ratings went down by 7% to 14%, and the rating for very or somewhat optimistic went up by 8% to 73%.

We are committed to supporting our members through the difficult coming months, however, we do need more clarity from Government in order to secure the best possible outcome for the animal medicines industry. The reality of a no-deal Brexit is looming and only with Government clarity and solutions can we achieve the outcomes that we as an industry are striving for.”
