Swiss Therapeutics group to work on UK D1 receptor study

Addex Therapeutics has joined the UK-based human drug and brain research initiative THuNDR2, a collaboration between Addex and neuroscientists and drug development experts at Imperial College London, the universities of Cambridge, Bristol, Exeter, Oxford and Kings College London. It has a £1.2 million grant from the Wellcome Trust and was set up to study the role of the main dopamine receptor, D1, in human brain function, which is thought to be pivotal in attention, concentration and addiction.

THuNDR2 lead, Prof David Nutt, Imperial College London, said: “THuNDR2 is a landmark biomedical resource funded by Wellcome that will provide a much needed boost to human experimental neuroscience both in the UK and across the world for many years to come. Securing Addex permission for access to ADX10061 was vital for our success and we believe will allow us to advance exponentially our understanding of dopamine’s function in the brain and effect on human health.”
