Lenton Method to be clinically tested

Sparsholt College and University Centre in Hampshire are teaming up with the University of Winchester and the Canine Massage Guild to start the first clinical trials into the efficacy of the canine massage therapy Lenton Method, which is used for the treatment of musculoskeletal problems in dogs. The researchers will be looking for statistical predictors of the therapy for various diseases and rehabilitation situations, and will undertake a double-blind trial using a clinical sample following veterinary referral, in the hope of substantiating the anecdotal evidence of its effectiveness that already exists.
Founder of the Canine Massage Guild and Canine Massage Therapy Centre, and creator of the Lenton Method, Natalie Lenton, said: “Having the Lenton Method selected by these prestigious universities for in-depth clinical trials will give us a scientifically-proven approach owners can trust and, we hope, will also raise the bar for the profession as a whole. This ground breaking study is set to revolutionise the way we think about clinical canine massage therapy.”
