Roche launches new blood test to identify gene mutations
Roche has launched a new blood test, FoundationOne Liquid, a single liquid biopsy test that can detect the 4 main classes of gene mutations from solid tumors from a patient’s blood, and provide a comprehensive genomic profile including resistance mutations or fusions in lung cancer. It also provides targeted gene and microsatellite instability results that can help direct therapy selection and clinical trial options for advanced-stage cancer patients using a minimally invasive sample type, and also has features which may help identify patients most likely to benefit from cancer immunotherapy.
Sandra Horning, Roche’s chief medical officer, said: “Cancer is a disease of the genome and genomic profiling of every patient’s tumor at the start of their treatment journey will provide transformative outcomes for patients.”
