BSAVA promoting its Masters in Clinical Veterinary Research

The BSAVA’s Masters in Clinical Veterinary Research commences with online study into the principles of clinical research, and then application of that knowledge to the student’s own research project. The flexibility of the course means that the required 1,200 hours of study can be completed between 2 and 5 years, depending on whether the student elects for part time study. It is suitable for those with any accredited postgraduate certificate (60 credits at level 7) relevant to some aspect of veterinary medicine or surgery, and would be appropriate for vets who want to develop a deeper understanding of their clinical research work alongside their current practice work.
Head of education at BSAVA, Lucie Goodwin, said: “For those vets who have already completed a postgraduate certificate it is an opportunity to develop their skills further, partake in research and collect valuable data from the field. So much of the published data in veterinary journals is based on a referral population and this may not necessarily reflect what truly happens in clinical practice. The BSAVA masters is designed to appeal to vets who want to undertake research alongside their job role, without having to commit to a full-time programme of study.”
