Orthodontic Therapists Society is launched

The first meeting of the Orthodontic Therapists Society took place on Saturday 23rd March, 2019 at the University of Warwick Medical School, at which the society’s ethos ‘stronger together – inspiring and engaging orthodontic therapists at each and every stage of their career’ was unveiled.
The event was sponsored by Ortho Care and Orthodontic Team Training and was attended by quite a number of delegates who enjoyed exceptional presentations of various topics, including the use of differential bracket torques, effective communication for the orthodontic therapists and the restorative/orthodontic interface. Head of public policy at the General Dental Council, Richard Drummond, gave his support to the newly founded society by presenting on GDC updates and a review of the scope of practice.
Chair of the Orthodontic Therapists Society, Donna Campbell, said: “The society acknowledges the challenges that many orthodontic therapists and student orthodontic therapists face in their day-to- day work. We want to encourage them to come together as a collective group and to share a voice through learning, application, experience and reflection.”
Some delegates said: “It was a brilliant and informative day, meeting and networking with other orthodontic therapists and bringing us all together.”
