Gilead appoints new chief commercial officer

Gilead Sciences has appointed Johanna Mercier as new chief commercial officer with effect from 1st July 2019. Ms Mercier has been at BMS for 10 years, most recently in the capacity of President and Head of Large Markets division, and brings with her a wealth of global leadership experience in inflammation, neuroscience and oncology.
Gilead’s chairman and CEO, Daniel O’Day, said: “I believe that Johanna has the skills to continue to strengthen our performance and position Gilead for long-term success, building on the great talent I have seen across the organization since joining the company several months ago. She is a talented leader with a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, across therapeutic markets and geographies, as well as a proven ability to input the commercial perspective into development strategies.
