AI used to keep track of Chemotherapy

Researchers at Rutgers University in New Jersey have designed a portable devices that can determine if target chemotherapy is working on individual cancer patients.
Through the use of Artificial intelligence, and biosensors, the device is 95.9% accurate in counting live cancer cells when they pass through electrodes. The device is able to give immediate results and will allow for better management and detection of the disease, as well as the need for personalised interventions.
Co- author Joseph R Beterini said on the device “technologies like this ca have a positive impact on the standard of care and result in cost savings for the patient, and the healthcare provider. We envision this device being used as a point of car tool for assessing patient response and personalisation of therapeutics.”
The next step is to perform tests on tumour samples from patients, with the hope that the device will be used to test cancer therapies on samples of patient’s tumours before treatment is administered.
