Second charity dental unit is launched by Dentaid
Dentaid are launching its second charity dental unit which will be supported by Bupa Dental Care. Teams of volunteers will provide dental screening, emergency treatment and oral health advice for those who find it difficult to access care, and the new vehicle will be used to visit homeless shelters, soup kitchens and day centres.
“With 70% of the homeless experiencing dental problems, we can’t wait to launch the second Dentaid charity dental unit.” Said CEO of Dentaid Andy Evans. “We have regular clinics in Leeds, York, Winchester, Hampshire and Wiltshire, but it’s because of our incredible volunteers that we’re in a unique position to be able to help them.”
Bupa Dental Care have chosen Dentaid as their official charity partner, and will support its UK work with a variety of fundraising initiatives. Bupa will also be providing funding via its apprenticeship levy.
We’re really proud to be able to support an important organisation like Dentaid.” Said general manager at Bupa Dental Care Gabriela Pueyo. ‘With more than 470 practices across the UK, we’re in a great position to provide volunteers for Dentaid’s mobile units as they travel across the country, and cannot wait to begin working with them.”
