The DHSC issues a SSP for haloperidol

6th January 2020

A serious shortage protocol (SSP) for haloperidol (Serenace) five-hundred micro-gram capsules has been distributed by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) for Wales and England, in aid to tackle the significant shortages. The SSP, which entered into force on the 23rd December and will last until the 23rd March, grants pharmacists the aptitude to sell five-hundred micro-gram tablets as a substitute for the five-hundred micro-gram capsules, without having to contact the General Practitioner (GP) of the patient.
