RPS declares for sweet vaping flavours to be banned to prevent attractiveness to the youth
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has declared that sweet flavours in vaping and e-cigarettes should be banned to stop the attractiveness to the youth. The policy has also called for additional safety data and examination into the long-term consequences and benefits of inhaling heated e-cigarettes.
Moreover, the RPS outlines that despite vaping being less dangerous in comparison to smoking tobacco, it still poses a significant risk and encourages nicotine craving. Therefore, healthcare workers should be helping people to quit vaping until more research has been conducted.
RPS Scotland’s Deputy Director and policy and practice lead, Aileen Bryson, stated: “We don’t have enough data yet to really establish how safe e-cigarettes are and what the risks might be in the longer term. Because we know they’re not completely safe, we should be aiming towards getting people to quit e-cigarettes over the long term.”
