AI technology to regenerate muscle tissue in wounded soldiers
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded twenty-two million dollars to develop an intelligent technology that can regenerate muscle tissue in wounded soldiers through bioelectronics, artificial intelligence, and regenerative medicine.
As a result, the University of Pittsburgh is managing the project, where they’ll spend the following four years working on an acronym made from regenerative electronic Patch, through Advanced Intelligent Regulation, called REPAIR. The team hopes that a few days after an injury, REPAIR will make large wounds anti-inflammatory, and continue the process until the muscle is completely self-rebuilt.
REPAIR will be inserted into the wound and will monitor key molecular signals at every stage of healing and deliver specific molecules at certain times under AI.
