Thermo Fisher Scientific’s diagnostics test to detect COVID-19 issued a CE mark in EU

Thermo Fisher Scientific (TFS) has recently revealed that its diagnostic test, to identify nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2, has been granted a certification mark (CE) in Europe (EU). The test, which has been developed to produce results within 240 minutes of a sample being received by a laboratory, uses real-time PCR technology and Applied Biosystems TaqPath Assay.

The President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TFS, Marc N Casper, stated: “The CE mark certification is an important step in combatting the outbreak of COVID-19 across Europe. We are committed to fighting this disease and we will continue to work with regulatory authorities and customers around the world to expand the availability of diagnostic testing and stem the spread of the coronavirus.”
