The GPhC survey outlines that one-third of temporary community pharmacists are returning to work

A survey of one-thousand, two hundred and fifty-five temporarily registered pharmacy staff, conducted by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has unveiled that two-thirds of staff who’ve returned to work are community pharmacists. Furthermore, almost one-third of community pharmacy staff, temporarily added to the pharmacy register, are intending on returning to work or have already returned.

The survey found that twenty per cent of pharmacy technicians and fourteen per cent of pharmacists have returned to work, following the registration on 27 March this year. Also, a further sixteen per cent of pharmacy technicians and fourteen per cent of pharmacists have stated that they are preparing to return soon.

President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Sandra Gidley, stated: “I have never been more proud of the pharmacy profession, past and present. Pharmacy teams are all doing an amazing job to ensure that patients get the medicines and health advice that they need in these exceptionally challenging times and we are very grateful to all those who have returned to help in our fight against COVID-19.”
