Dechra Veterinary Products launches Laxatract
Dechra Veterinary Products released the UK’s first veterinary licensed lactulose oral syrup, Laxatract, to tackle constipation in dogs and cats. The syrup, which is available in a 50-millilitre bottle and has a 5-millilitre syringe for easy administration, can be given directly in the mouth or mixed with food. Dechra outlined that it will take approximately up to three days of treatment before the effects occur.
Carol Morgan, Dechra’s brand manager, stated: “Cats and dogs may need to be treated for constipation for a number of reasons, including intestinal atony after surgery, hairballs or massive intestinal contents and Laxatract provides a safe and effective solution to facilitate that. Laxatract can also be used when facilitated defecation is required, such as partial obstructions due to tumours and fractures, rectal diverticulum, proctitis and poisoning.”
