BI gets marketing go-ahead for Ingelvac CSF MLV

26th June 2020

Boehringer Ingelheim has announced that its Classical Swine Fever live vaccine Ingelvac® CSF MLV has now been granted a “New Veterinary Drug Registration Certificate” from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, China, and holds the accolade for being the first Classical Swine Fever live vaccine jointly developed by a multinational company and Chinese research institutes.

Ingelvac® CSF MLV uses state-of-the-art microcarrier-based suspension culture and freeze-drying technologies to ensure high-titer virus, stable vaccine production process, and controllable quality, and can be stored at 2-8℃ for 24 months. The vaccine will be produced by Boehringer Ingelheim’s Taizhou plant, Jiangsu province where Ingelvac® PRRS MLV (live vaccine for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome) is already being manufactured. This new vaccine will be BI’s first swine vaccine product, developed, manufactured and distributed in China, and will provide China’s pig farming industry with breakthrough immunization programs and supporting disease solutions, as well as contributing towards the fight to eliminate Classical Swine Fever in China. Commercialisation of the new vaccine is expected in the first part of 2021.
