The Government lifts the cap in universities for those students wishing to study veterinary science

Following its turn on A-level grades, the Government has recently lifted the cap placed on the number of places for those students wishing to study veterinary science.

In addition, university courses for dentistry and medicine have also had caps lifted, with universities offering these courses set to secure further funding to help strengthen the capacity.

The movement follows after doctors and vice-chancellors requested for the cap on student numbers in medical schools to be abandoned, due to the grading turmoil.

Michelle Donelan, universities minister, stated: “This has been an incredibly difficult time for students and I want to reassure them that every effort is being made to make sure all those who planned to can move on to higher education. I am delighted that the Government and the higher education sector have agreed that all students who achieved the required grades will be offered a place at their first choice university.”
