Updated Government guidance on PPE for pharmacists

27th August 2020

Updated Government guidance on PPE, published by Public Health England (PHE), states that pharmacists won’t be required to wear single-use gloves or aprons when administering flu vaccinations in 2020/21, as they aren’t deemed necessary.

Despite this, where keeping a two-metre distance from patients is not feasible, pharmacists continue to be advised to wear type IIR surgical facemasks.

Chief executive officer of Kensington Chelsea & Westminster LPC and Pharmacy London lead for vaccinations, Rekha Shah, stated: “We are going to need enough supplies because people will want to use full protection.”
