Renishaw has introduced a Particle Analysis software module for the inVia confocal Raman microscope.

The inVia microscope is automated by the module to detect particles on images and then chemically examine them using Raman spectroscopy.

Renishaw’s inVia Raman system has a high-quality microscope which is suitable for the processing of optical images of particles, used to guide Raman spectroscopy measurements that swiftly give high spatial-resolution and chemically specific information, on surfaces.

To conduct automated Raman analysis, the software module locates numerous particles and reports the results in an easy-to-navigate format. Furthermore, it provides chemical information on every particle and its morphology statistics, enabling users to spot correlations between particle shape, size and chemistry with ease.

Marketing Manager for Renishaw’s Spectroscopy Products Division, David Reece, stated: “Raman spectroscopy is being used increasingly for contamination detection, forensics, pharmaceutical products and microplastic analysis. Our new module enables the full investigation and reporting of morphological and chemical properties of particles. This will enable a deeper understanding of the particles, their properties and origins.”
