The pandemic delivery service in England will resume for four weeks

Following revised government advice, the pandemic delivery service in England will resume for four weeks from 5 November until 3 December 2020.

Initially, the service was commissioned to run from 9 April to 1 July 2020 and was then extended until 31 July 2020.

In a letter, Ridge and Waller clarified that the relaunch meant that every pharmacy and dispensing physician in England would be needed to ensure that their drugs were received at home by those on the shielded patient list.

Director of NHS services, Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee, Alastair Buxton, stated: “Community pharmacy teams are continuing to rise to the challenge of supporting the most vulnerable patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a vital role but also puts pressure on their stretched resources, so we are pleased that with the reinstatement of the Pandemic Delivery Service comes additional funding to support contractors in this work.”
