A mask has been developed which kills 99.9% of COVID-19 within 5 minutes of contact

An innovative anti-viral mask, Pro-Larva, has been developed by Pharm2Farm, which kills 99.9% of COVID-19 within 5 minutes of contact. The mask not only protects the wearer but also those around the wearer, using copper nanoparticle technology.

Where Current surgical masks are only effective for approximately 2 hours, the viricidal layer is effective for up to 7 hours. Thus, the Pro-Larva mask will reduce the number of masks required and reduce costs within workplaces.

Chairman of the parent company Pharm2Farm, Antony Legge, stated: “Conventional surgical-type TR2 masks only block virus from exiting the mask, they don’t have an active mechanism for killing it once it’s trapped in the mask. Pro-Larva has been designed to use existing barrier technology but also to combine it with a-virion – a copper nanoparticle technology that kills 99.9% of the virus once it is trapped in the mask.”

Founder of the technology, Pharm2Farm, Dr Gareth Cave, stated: “Helping healthcare professionals protect themselves, their co-workers and patients is very important and we are keen to support the NHS.
