Community pharmacies in Wales are to receive £3.5m to cover costs incited from the COVID-19 pandemic

17th March 2021

The government has announced that community pharmacies in Wales are to receive three-point-five million pounds to cover costs incited from the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to the already agreed five-point-six million pounds in December 2020.

Minister for health and social care, Vaughan Gething, stated: “I am today, very pleased to confirm that a further three-point-five million pounds will be provided to community pharmacy contractors, meeting CPW’s formal proposal in full. In total, this means new money of nine-point-one million pounds will have been allocated this financial year in recognition of the vital role pharmacies played during the height of the pandemic in all our communities, the length and breadth of Wales.”

Chair of Community Pharmacy Wales, Mark Griffiths, stated: “We are grateful that the minister for health, Vaughan Gething, and the whole Welsh government have recognised our contribution in word, in deed and in totality.”
