Dr Julian Perry has donated all of his dental equipment to fundraise for Dentaid
A five-figure sum has been raised for a dental charity after an award-winning dentist sold his dental equipment and instruments.
An implant dentist, Dr Julian Perry, has donated all of his dental equipment to fundraise for Dentaid.
The sales raised over £15,000 on eBay for the cause, which provides free-of-charge dental care to vulnerable groups both in the UK and overseas.
Jill Harding from Dentaid, stated: “This money will allow us to expand our outreach work for homeless and vulnerable people across the UK. We are currently running about twenty clinics a month. But every week we are getting several requests for new clinics in new locations across the UK and the need is huge. The funding will allow us to visit new locations and start building relationships with new communities of homeless and vulnerable people. Just last week we started new projects in Southampton and Portsmouth. Once these are established, we go back each month. So there’s a reliable dental service for people who struggle to access care. It’s about getting people out of pain and ensuring they can access oral cancer screening and dental health advice. But it’s also about listening to them, restoring their self-confidence and helping them to consider the importance of dental care. This is so they can move on to other stages of their lives.”
