Biofortuna doubles manufacturing capacity after move to North Wales
Biofortuna has moved to a new location in Deeside, North Wales. This has allowed the company to double its manufacturing capacity. Biofortuna is a provider for IVD development and contract manufacturing services, with expertise in the manufacturing and development of molecular and immunoassays. The new facilities are bespoke to perfectly create the optimum efficiency to keep up with constantly changing needs of predominant IVD and point of care businesses.
The newly designed factory is 450m³, comprising of a humidity-controlled cleanroom environment. This is for the purpose of dispensing, manufacturing, formulation, and analysis of over 10 million reactions weekly.
CEO at Biofortuna, Dr Nick Ash, said “This multi-million-pound investment demonstrates our ambition and commitment to become the sectors’ leading support specialist, helping our customers to accelerate their diagnostic development programmes from concept to commercialisation.”
Head of sales at the company, Paul Williams, said that “This facility will position Biofortuna as one of the leading outsourced providers of genomic services, custom assay development and contract manufacturing. It has been designed to expand our turnkey capabilities and provide our customers with a scalable resource to develop and manufacture their assays, particularly in the point of care and de-centralised IVD testing space.”
