Spectam Scout Halt Will No Longer Be Sold by Ceva as of Next Year

20th December 2021

Ceva Animal Health has declared that a product they sold to treat lambs and piglets will no longer be available. This is as a result of a drop in sales of veterinary medicines for livestock by over 50% since 2014.

The product in question is the Spectam Scout Halt which is an oral medication sold in 50mg/ml amounts. This treats bacterial enteritis in piglets and prevents bacterial neonatal in lambs. It will be dropped by the retailer as of January of next year.

In the beginning of next year there will be a small number of products still obtainable, however, Ceva has recommended veterinarians engage with customers regarding methods to reduce E. coli infections and watery mouth during the lambing season. As well as recommend other medicines that could prevent/ treat the diseases in the event of an outbreak.
