New Data Shows Vaxzevria Booster Vaccine is Safe

A recent study tested how well the Vaxzevria vaccine works and how safe it is. The evaluation for this data had positive outcomes, showing that there was a more significant immune reaction to the Beta, Delta, Alpha, and Gamma Covid 19 strains after the subject had received a booster vaccine. A different evaluation reported that antibody reaction increased against Omicron too.

The findings were seen in those who had been immunised with Vaxzevria or an mRNA.

As research continues, there is a stronger consensus that the Vaxzevria vaccine is safe to be used as a booster after any of the tested vaccinations mentioned here. This is great news considering the growing demand for boosters, with the company pitching this data to health authorities globally.

EVP at AstraZeneca, Sir Mene Pangalos, explained that “Vaxzevria has protected hundreds of millions of people from COVID-19 around the world and these data show that it has an important role to play as a third dose booster, including when used after other vaccines. Given the ongoing urgency of the pandemic and Vaxzevria’s increased immune response to the Omicron variant, we will continue to progress regulatory submissions around the world for its use as a third dose booster.”

Sir Andrew J Pollard, head of the Oxford Vaccine Group, commented: “These important studies show that a third dose of Vaxzevria after two initial doses of the same vaccine, or after mRNA or inactivated vaccines, strongly boosts immunity against COVID-19. The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is suitable as an option to enhance immunity in the population for countries considering booster programmes, adding to the protection already demonstrated with the first two doses.”
