Science Thermo Fisher Scientific is a Front Runner for LGBTQ+ Corporate Equality

9th February 2022

For the seventh year in a row, Thermo Fisher has achieved a total of 100 on the CEI (corporate equality index) by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022. This index is spearheading significant changes towards improving LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion; it is used throughout the country as a standards guideline to assess policies, operations, and perks for workers in the LGBTQ community

The Sectors Evaluated by the CEI are:

The adoption of inclusive non-discrimination policies

Equitable healthcare benefits for transgender employees

Supporting an inclusive culture

Corporate social responsibility

Only 13 organisations received a high mark when the index was first introduced back in 2002, but since then change has accelerated with an unprecedented quantity of businesses (over 840) earning a top score of 100 in 2022. These firms have achieved the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality” status, proving the CEI’s enormous effect on the corporate sector over the course of two decades.

Vice president of diversity and inclusion at the firm, Jennifer Farmer, expressed that “We believe that embracing diverse backgrounds and perspectives is vital to our long-term success as we work toward our shared mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. Fostering an inclusive culture and a sense of belonging for our colleagues empowers them to contribute their best ideas and bring their true selves to work each day.”
