Sara Hurley has confirmed new targets will come into place
Sara Hurley, the Chief Dental Officer for England, has confirmed new targets will come into place on July 1 for practices with NHS dental contracts.
Following the easing of the IPC restrictions earlier this year, the usual contracting arrangement will commence on July 1, meaning practices will be expected to hit one hundred per cent of activity.
Furthermore, from July 1 2022, activities delivered by dental foundation trainees will no longer be accumulated as a practice activity.
Chair of the association’s General Dental Practice Committee, Shawn Charlwood, stated: “From 1 July NHS dentists have to pretend they’ve returned to business as usual. For thousands of struggling practices, nothing could be further from the truth,’ he said. Imposing fanciful targets is easy for ministers. The harder but necessary path demands real reform and fair funding.”
