New Device Enables Operating Theatres to Become a Smoke Free Environment
Eakin Surgical, a welsh manufacturer based in Cardiff, is “pleased to be able to support the NHS in its goal to better protect its staff from the well-known dangers of surgical smoke” as it creates a smoke evacuation product that maintains a smoke- free atmosphere in operating theatres.
About 30 years ago it was discovered that surgical smoke is just as mutagenic as cigarette smoke, putting individuals at serious risk of both chemical and biological danger. The most recurrent sources of surgical smoke plumes are electrosurgery instruments, which have been proven to emit the equivalent of 27–30 cigarettes each day on average.
Recent studies have revealed that when operations take place, the smoke breathed in can include over 40 distinct harmful compounds and can result in health problems from virus infections.
The CIMPAX® C-PURE 750TM includes an innovative 3-port filter that allows a number of tubing and attachments to satisfy clinical demands, in contrast to other devices that simply disperse the smoke plume.
The gadget may be connected to any smoke evacuation system on the market thanks to a unique adapter. The smoke evacuation product is made up of an environmentally conscious substance which boasts a lesser environmental impact, a concept which aligns with the current goals of the NHS.
