Kaiku Health and Novartis enter a wider partnership

Specialists in cancer treatment, Kaiku Health, formed a partnership with Novartis last year with the goal of creating digital patient monitoring and management for people with melanoma. The businesses are now broadening their alliance after the success of this collaboration.
In the initial stage of their partnership, Kaiku Health and Novartis created a therapy-specific module for patients taking Tafinlar and Mekinist, two targeted treatments for adjuvant, metastatic, or unresectable BRAF-mutant melanoma.
The objective was to develop more sophisticated machine learning-based algorithms, like symptom prediction, for personalising the management of patients receiving Tafinlar, Mekinist, and other combination medications, as well as new insights on patient outcomes in a real-world scenario.
The initiative began with the use of the BRAF/MEK Module and the Tafinlar and Mekinist Specific Module in cancer centres in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Italy.
Deputy general manager at Kaiku Health, Henri Virtanen, has stated, “Our goal is to make precision medicine available for a growing number of cancer patients. The cooperation so far has shown that together we can enhance the monitoring and symptom management of melanoma patients specifically. We are committed and excited to continue this work together, as well as to scale our joint efforts across new cancer types and treatments globally. The next phase of our partnership includes taking machine learning algorithms further.”
The cooperation has already started its long-term growth, with numerous cancer clinics using the melanoma Tafinlar and Mekinist-specific modules.
