Engineering Fellowships Awarded to Strathclyde Uni Members

The renowned Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Fellowships have been given to three individuals from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland.
The programme allows scholars and businesspeople in the middle of their careers to work together on a research topic in an academic or commercial setting. By offering a chance to start or improve joint research, it also seeks to develop the strategic partnership between the parties.
For the “Better evaluation of UK seismic ground vibrations for engineering purpose,” Dr. John Douglas from Civil & Environmental Engineering, who collaborated with Jacobs, received a Fellowship.
An academic prototype of seismic waves that could be anticipated in future earthquakes close by is necessary for the design and valuation of civil engineering infrastructure against earthquakes.
A UK ground-motion model will be created through the results of these activities.
Dr. Agust Egea-Lvarez will lead the “Stability of future power networks” project, which he is working on with ScottishPower Energy Networks. ScottishPower’s rapid transition from traditional power plants to renewable energy interacting with power converters poses additional difficulties that will raise the likelihood of power outages.
In order to reduce the interfaces that trigger these issues, this mission will create innovative models and investigate mitigation strategies.
Working together on the “Developing 3D-printed ceramic monolithic adsorption technology for life-threatening inflammatory disorders” scheme is Dr. Craig Robertson and TSI Technology Ltd. It will create a technique to cure serious inflammatory diseases such as sepsis and Covid 19, which lead the body’s defence system to work against it.
All engineers are eligible to apply, and grants can last from six to forty-eight months. The Academy will pay up to £50,000 per year for the winner’s basic wage expenditures, or a maximum of £100,000 for awards lasting more than one year.
