AndroGel, the male hormone treatment from Solvay Pharmaceuticals, is to go to market on five continents following the signing of agreements between Solvay and Besins International.
The product is a main player in testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and Solvay has now added Latin American countries (including Brazil and Argentina), Africa and some Asian countries to its distribution list.
It has also gained semi-exclusive rights for France, Belgium, Spain, Greece and the UK.
“Solvay is very pleased with this second major geographical expansion for AndroGel, which is in line with the group’s policy to globalise our marketing efforts for key products,” said Sjirk Kok, senior vice president of global product strategy for Solvay
“There is a real clinical unmet need for an easy to apply treatment for testosterone deficiency or hypogonadism ? a troublesome male condition ? and the profile of AndroGel is matching that need perfectly.”
The product is a once-a-day gel that Solvay says it sold more than 235 million euros worth of in the USA, Canada and Germany last year.
