According to recent research, DermaSensor’s AI-based elastic scattering spectroscopy gadget has the ability to identify skin cancer.

In initial trials, the ESS tool demonstrated comparable results across a range of patient skin characteristics in identifying signs of slow or fast-spreading skin cancers.

The research, which evaluated the product’s effectiveness and overall risk, indicated an average sensitivity for the trial data to be over 95%.

The trial was conducted to provide medical evidence to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and governing European regulators.

Given its excellent accuracy in detecting all forms of skin cancer in this study, medical professionals should find the non-intrusive equipment to be of high value in identifying potential signs of skin cancer.

“This study was a key early comparative effectiveness study showing that our device can bring dermatologist-level triage to primary care,” commented Cody Simmons, head of DermaSensor.

Simmons went on to add, “We have completed eight clinical studies for review by regulatory bodies in the US and Europe and we hope to soon be the first-ever device on the US market that provides PCPs with an immediate, objective result for skin cancer.”
