Chugai agrees manufacturing deal

23rd March 2006

Chugai has announced it has reached a deal with MP-Technopharma regarding manufacturing of four Chugai prescription pharmaceutical products.

Rocatrel, a vitamin D3 derivative, Inhibace, an Ace inhibitor, Madopar, an anti-Parkinsonism drug and Kytril, a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist antinauseant, are all involved in the manufacturing contract.

MP-Technopharma has said that the deal involves a commitment to enhance the competitiveness of the products, but also to help the improvement of people’s health and wellbeing.

The company is also charged with improving the corporate value as a “technological service-oriented contractor for drug formulation and manufacturing operations”, MP-Technopharma has said.

Chugai’s deal with MP-Technopharma is part of the company’s aim to maximise group value by improving cost efficiency and manufacturing technologies.

The products that have been outsourced to MP-Technopharma were previously manufactured at Kamakura Plant, before it was decided production should move as a result of a review by Chugai.
