Siemens Medical Solutions unveils new imaging system
Siemens Medical Solutions has unveiled a new preclinical imaging system which it says can help transfer the findings of the laboratory to the marketplace.
The firm’s new Inveon imaging platform enables researchers to track diseases and their manifestation in the body, helping scientists to evaluate potential treatments.
Inveon says its new system can help quicken the drug development process, identifying individual biological process and monitoring the efficacy of compounds used.
Siemens molecular imaging president Michael Reitermann said Inveon could herald a new range of products being brought to the market.
“Siemens preclinical solutions are driving medical research from the laboratory to the clinic,” he said.
“Inveon offers limitless solutions and the highest performance and versatility available to address research needs from academic and translational research, to drug discovery and development.”
Molecular medicine uses imaging techniques with molecular biomarkers as a key tool in evaluating and developing new drugs.
Inveon’s control of a series of sophisticated techniques, including Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) and CT data acquisition, is said to be among the most advanced yet.
Siemens Medical Solutions is one of the world’s largest healthcare hardware suppliers, boasting sales in excess of 7.6 billion euros.
