Agfa to supply “groundbreaking” imaging to Isle of Wight hospital

Agfa Healthcare has revealed it is to supply St Mary’s Hospital on the Isle of Wight with its “groundbreaking” DX-S Computed Radiography system, to be installed in July.

A portable system, the DX-S will be used by radiologists to perform examinations on patients no matter where they are. It has also found use in the emergency resuscitation area where instant imaging can provide fast diagnoses for critically ill patients without the need to wait for images to be processed.

Rachael Benson, Agfa Healthcare’s account manager, said: “We are delighted St Mary’s Hospital has chosen to go digital with Agfa’s DX-S CR solution.”

“We are proud to be associated with St Mary’s and we are very much looking forward to working with ? the rest of the team to help improve imaging quality and efficiency, as well as helping improve the patient experience,” she added.

The DX-S uses a needle-based detector and light collection technology which allows for higher quality imaging and reduced x-ray doses.

Agfa Healthcare is part of the Agfa Gevaert Group, a Belgian company. Its UK headquarters are based in Brentford, Middlesex and there is also a manufacturing facility in Leeds. Agfa Gevaert’s origins lie in the 19th Century.
