Zoll signs million pound NHS equipment deal
Zoll Medical has revealed it has signed a one million pound deal with the Essex Ambulance Service NHS Trust involving the sale of 20 of its AutoPulse devices.
The company describes it as the largest single UK order for AutoPulse, a non-invasive cardiac support pump. Robert Ashford, the trust’s locality general manager, said that his ambulance crews had tested other rival products but had voted “overwhelmingly” for the Zoll product.
Mr Ashford stated: “We believe this device can improve blood flow during sudden cardiac arrest. It can move much more blood than could ever be done with human hands during CPR.”
“It also offers the benefit of freeing up paramedics and technicians to focus on other life-saving interventions,” he added.
Zoll’s president and chief executive officer, Richard A Packer, remarked: “We are pleased that the NHS staff chose our products over the competition.”
“This agreement demonstrates wider international acceptance for the AutoPulse, as well as for our newer defibrillator offerings. Moreover, customers understand the benefit of using Zoll products in an integrated fashion,” he concluded.
Zoll, a Massachusetts-based company, specialises in resuscitation equipment, such as defibrillators and cardiac support pumps. The company’s UK division is based in Warrington, Cheshire.
