Allergan demonstrates dermal filler range

26th September 2006

Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox, has announced a new range of “next generation” hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus.

The company has invited physicians with expertise in “facial aesthetics” to test the treatment, designed to be administered through injection, before it goes on sale in the US in January 2007.

The Juvederm products are designed to smooth skin and “volumise” facial folds, with results intended to last up to six months or longer.

Allergan describes the treatment as “unique”, adding that is “pleased” to include the drug in its physician-dispensed skincare range.

Robert Grant, Allergan’s corporate vice president and president of the Inamed subsidiary, remarked: “We believe the unique scientific benefits of Juvederm, along with its technologically advanced smooth formulation will establish the brand as a leader alongside Botox cosmetic in Allergan’s Total Facial Rejuvenation offering.”

He added that it was the company’s responsibility to offer appropriate clinical information to ensure the best patient outcomes.

As well as featuring a variety of dermatology products, Allergan also offers a range of eyecare and neuroscience drugs, like Lumigan, the glaucoma treatment.
