SIGH acquires a surgical instrument company

Surgical Instruments Group Holdings (SIGH) has announced that it has acquired micro ophthalmic instrument manufacturer, Osborn & Simmons.

SIGH says that the deal will see the company become a leading specialist provider of the instruments in the UK, adding to its current range of surgical products.

David Peddy, managing director of SIGH, believes that acquiring Osborn & Simmons will deliver “continued market penetration”, contributing to the company’s overall development.

“Osborn & Simmons provides us with a highly strategic and complementary portfolio of instruments – further extending SIGH’s reach and leadership in the manufacturing and supply of world class surgical instruments,” he comments.

“We are confident that this acquisition will be the stepping stone to the next stage in growth of the company.”

Osborn & Simmons currently manufactures a range of ophthalmic surgical instruments, including scissors, needle holders and spatulas.

SIGH has moved the business to its headquarters in Croydon, from where it distributes and repairs its current product range.

The acquisition of Osborn & Simmons is one of a number of agreements that has helped SIGH to grow “four times larger” than when it was originally founded in 1995.
