Coloplast releases new ostomy platform

10th October 2006

Coloplast has launched a new ostomy platform for people living with a stoma.

Called SenSura, the company claims that the new device is “highly improved” and has been tested with users and over 400 stoma care nurses internationally.

Additionally, the product, which comprises double-layer adhesives for superior performance, achieved user preference levels of between 79-85 per cent in clinical studies, with fewer incidents of leakage being reported.

Coloplast says the SenSura product will be introduced into a global market in which it holds a 28 per cent stake.

Nicolai Buhl Andersen, senior vice president at Coloplast’s ostomy division, remarked: “With the global roll out of SenSura we believe we can support providers and users to live a more comfortable life with ostomy.”

“And with this launch we believe we can reach our goal of becoming the world?s number one ostomy care provider and partner,” he added.

In June, Coloplast revealed it had developed “a new type of fistula pouch”, which accounts for two per cent of the company’s existing market. Coloplast claims the device was developed in close cooperation with stoma care nurses.

Coloplast’s UK headquarters are based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
