Kodak partners with NDMA to further mammography technology

Kodak has revealed it has partnered with the National Digital Medical Archive (NDMA) to further the technology transfer of mammography from analogue to digital techniques.

The companies claim they will combine one another’s technology and build “a family of innovative solutions” that will drive management, the archiving and imagery of the information presented from mammograms.

Specifically, Kodak will pair its Carestream information management solutions with data and imaging tools from the NDMA, containing analytical and visualisation tools.

Ian Marron, director of eHealth at Kodak’s health group in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, remarked: “The solutions that evolve from integrating Kodak and NDMA products will enable healthcare facilities to collect, retrieve, store and distribute digital images and information on demand, thus helping enhance workflow efficiencies, increase revenue and improve patient care.”

Included in the agreement is the NDMA’s citizens’ health portal, myNDMA. It is designed to provide a health record management system on a private website.

In September, Kodak previewed a computer-aided detection system for breast cancer that could help clinicians detect cancer “at an early stage”.
