Agfa HealthCare selected for PACS system in UK hospitals
Classic Hospitals, a Reading-based private hospitals group comprising ten hospitals, has selected Agfa Healthcare to provide a “next generation” picture archiving and communications system (PACS).
The hospitals will have the Impax 6.2 system and the Agfa Computed Radiography 35-X solution installed from this December, with the outfitting expected to have completed by March 2007.
The systems are needed by Classic Hospitals as the outlets perform a variety of tasks, including orthopaedics, gynaecology and breast imaging.
Adrian Stevens, director of Agfa HealthCare in Northern Europe, commented: “This partnership further endorses Agfa HealthCare’s commitment to the private sector in the UK, building upon the deployment of PACS in the UK under the ‘Connecting for Health’ NHS IT programme.”
David Gray, chief operating officer at Classic Hospitals, added that three key benefits presented by the Agfa PACS include having connectivity with the NHS, as well as value for money and web-based capabilities.
Agfa specialises in imaging and information systems. Last week, the company displayed its latest products at the Radiological Society of North America, including new computed radiography products and cardiology systems.
