Pfizer launches online tracking of ‘large and diverse’ pipeline
Pfizer has announced the launch of an on-line resource providing research and development pipeline information for the scientific and medical communities, in addition to investors.
The website, which the company states will be regularly updated, will publish information regarding the company’s developmental progress in a number of sectors, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease and others
It covers products at all stages in the development pipeline, from those in phase I clinical trials through to those under review and those recently approved.
Dr John LaMattina, president of global research and development at Pfizer, said: “We have the largest and most diverse pipeline in our history.
“One of our most important business priorities is bringing these compounds forward so that they reach the patients who need them most in the long term.”
He added that the company had set a number of detailed goals for the introduction of a number of pharmaceutical products in the forthcoming years, including two externally acquired compounds by 2010 and four products developed in-house by 2011.
This week, Pfizer announced that it had sold its consumer healthcare nit to Johnson & Johnson for $16.6 billion (8.43 billion pounds) in order to better invest in its core pharmaceuticals business.
