Philips and EP MedSystems launch ultrasound platform
EP MedSystems and Royal Philips Electronics have announced the launch of the ViewMate II ultrasound system for imaging catheter laboratory procedures.
The system is based on the HD11 XE platform from Philips Medical Systems and will be used with the ViewFlex intracardiac (ICE) imaging catheters from EP MedSystems.
Both advanced electrophysiology (EP) and interventional catheter (IC) laboratory procedures can be accommodated by the ViewMate II system through its ultrasound imaging modes.
Philips will offer the ICE option to its echocardiography clients that request such capabilities, while EP MedSystems will distribute the ViewMate II to cardiac catheter and EP laboratory clients.
Barbara Franciose, chief executive officer of ultrasound and monitoring for Philips Medical Systems, said: “This collaboration of technologies from the leaders in cardiac ultrasound and EP products has the potential to broaden the services a hospital can offer patients and increase the value of their investment in their ultrasound system.”
Philips Medical Systems’ HD11 XE Platform provides imaging resolution used to visualise intracardiac anatomy and devices. For the assessment of physiologic performance, the platform includes sensitive colour flow and Doppler.
In November 2006, Philips Medical Systems unveiled a new range of cardiovascular solutions at the American Heart Association to aid diagnoses.
